Limited edition series - Horse 1A - Hunter 20” x 24”
Conservation Plan Reference: Key element: Horns
The CW Parker Carousel was hand-carved in Leavenworth, Kansas, by Charles Wallace Parker, the “Amusement King” in 1915. This carousel came from what many consider to be his best period of production. The carousel was purchased from Maude E. King of King’s Royal Canadian Shows in 1934. The carousel was purchased for the “princely” sum of $1750.
Lisa Parr, Old Parr’s Inc., a world-renowned restoration expert based near Chicago Illinois, was hired by the City of Thunder Bay to develop a Conservation Plan to restore the CW Parker Carousel which is a Designated Heritage Property (1991). As part of developing the Conservation Plan and Restoration Manual, Lisa created ink drawings and hand-painted each drawing for all 28 horses found on the carousel. These drawings have acted as valuable guides for the restorers and will remain important historical records for generations to come.
The horse images reproduced as Giclée prints for sale were chosen from Lisa Parr’s illustrations by Biljana Baker, a well-known local artist and the artistic consultant to this restoration project. Giclée prints are archival in quality and far superior to all other forms of printing. These prints are individually printed on watercolour paper to give you authentic images from the original, smaller paintings. These large prints are a limited-edition series.
*If you are interested in purchasing a framed print and you live in a community other than Thunder Bay once you have selected and paid for your framed choice we will determine shipping costs and we will contact you before shipping to ensure that the total cost is acceptable and that we can process the additional cost. If it is not we will return your initial payment.
