The History of Chippewa Park

With Chippewa Park celebrating its 100th birthday in 2021, the Chronicle Journal and The Friends of Chippewa Park combined their efforts to publish a weekly chapter in the life of this century old municipal park.

The primary source of much of the information contained in these articles are derived from the paper researched and prepared by Jackie Cleveland, a Researcher with the Thunder Bay Recreation Department in 1982. The documents related to the land acquisition are stored with the City of Thunder Bay Archives. Editors of the articles are Murray and Iain Angus, individuals with a long history of their own at Chippewa Park.
